A. The Ombudsman is appointed by at least 2/3 of councillors sitting at the Montréal City Council, where sit the Mayor of Montréal, the 19 Borough Mayors and 45 City Councillors.

The current Ombudsman, Ms. Nadine Mailloux, took office in 2020.
