{"id":4744,"date":"2016-06-22T10:39:12","date_gmt":"2016-06-22T14:39:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ombudsmandemontreal.com\/cases-handled\/examples-of-cases-handled\/culture-leisure-and-community-activities\/arrondissement-de-ville-marie-audition-permis-damuseur-public"},"modified":"2017-06-14T10:48:47","modified_gmt":"2017-06-14T14:48:47","slug":"arrondissement-de-ville-marie-audition-permis-damuseur-public","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ombudsmandemontreal.com\/en\/cases-handled\/examples-of-cases-handled\/culture-leisure-and-community-activities\/arrondissement-de-ville-marie-audition-permis-damuseur-public","title":{"rendered":"Arrondissement de Ville-Marie \u2013 Auditionning \u2013 Public Entertainer Permit (2015)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In order to present a musical or an artistic performance on the public domain, artists must first obtain a <em>Public Entertainer Permit<\/em>, in accordance with the <em>R\u00e8glement sur les musiciens et amuseurs publics<\/em>. \u00a0One of the prerequisites is to successfully audition before an evaluation committee.<\/p>\n<p>A musician who had failed was complaining that his audition had been too short and that the Borough had not communicated his results and the evaluation grid, within a reasonable time.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>OdM<\/strong>\u2019s investigation confirms that these grievances were founded.<\/p>\n<p>The evaluation committee members acknowledge that they had indeed shortened the duration time of these auditions because, based on their experience, they deemed it too long.\u00a0 The committee also confirms having exceeded the deadline to communicate the results and evaluation grid to the plaintiff.<\/p>\n<p>The Borough offers to reimburse the musician his audition costs, which he accepts.<\/p>\n<p>The Borough also commits to respect the provisions of the Bylaw with regard to the audition process and communication of the results. \u00a0If it deems it appropriate, the Borough could, however, proceed to amend these provisions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In order to present a musical or an artistic performance on the public domain, artists must first obtain a Public Entertainer Permit, in accordance with the R\u00e8glement sur les musiciens et amuseurs publics. \u00a0One of the prerequisites is to successfully &hellip;
