{"id":4581,"date":"2016-06-21T10:42:32","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T14:42:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ombudsmandemontreal.com\/?page_id=4581"},"modified":"2016-06-21T10:42:32","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T14:42:32","slug":"service-de-la-culture-quartier-des-spectacles-universal-access-charter-file-2015-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ombudsmandemontreal.com\/en\/cases-handled\/examples-of-charter-files\/universal-access\/service-de-la-culture-quartier-des-spectacles-universal-access-charter-file-2015-2","title":{"rendered":"Service de la culture \u2013 Quartier des spectacles \u2013 Universal access \u2013 Charter file (2015)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since 2010, we make regular follow-ups with the managers of the <em>Quartier des spectacles<\/em> in order to improve accessibility and safety on site, for people with functional limitations. \u00a0We insist on the importance of considering this aspect at the earliest stage, before construction of the different facilities.\u00a0 This file is still underway.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, the City mandated a specialized firm to conduct a <em>Monitoring study<\/em> on the universal access of the site.\u00a0 Observations and analysis of the movements of people, with or without functional limitations, confirmed several problems, particularly at corners. \u00a0Some of these problems, such as pedestrian\u00a0\/\u00a0cyclist conflicts, may affect all users.<\/p>\n<p>Following this study, the City undertook the planning of corrective measures.\u00a0 Some were completed but there is still much to do to improve the existing facilities. \u00a0Our office, therefore, is keeping this file active.<\/p>\n<p>The pedestrian\u00a0\/\u00a0cyclist conflicts at corners and along boulevard de Maisonneuve are of particular concern for our office.<\/p>\n<p>We also want to ensure that for the \u201c<em>Clark Esplanade\u201d <\/em>project, which is the last phase of the <em>Quartier des spectacles<\/em>, the City will integrate the required universal access elements for all types of limitations, from the planning stage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since 2010, we make regular follow-ups with the managers of the Quartier des spectacles in order to improve accessibility and safety on site, for people with functional limitations. \u00a0We insist on the importance of considering this aspect at the earliest &hellip;
